This summer, the Carpathians, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ukraine, experienced noticeable changes in its audience. If earlier it was possible to meet many tourists from different regions of the country, now attention is drawn to the clear predominance of women among vacationers. There were much fewer men in the Carpathians, and this affected the general mood of the resorts.
"Men hardly come to us now. Most likely, they are afraid that they will serve a summons. First, you need to pass through several checkpoints in Ukraine, plus our military commissars are active - they even go in the mountains," said Roman, a resident of Yablunytsia, who makes a living driving tourists on his old UAZ along mountain routes.
Summonses are indeed served at the resorts, although not everywhere. For example, military commissars are rare in Bukovel. According to rumors, there are agreements that the employees of the TCC will not be especially eager to haunt this resort.
Many hotels and private estates stand half-empty. Their owners complain that the costs are increasing, and they do not dare to raise the prices for accommodation - and so there are few tourists.
Therefore, for example, although almost everyone has acquired generators, they are not always started during power outages - it is too expensive.
The second distinguishing feature of the current tourist season in the Carpathians is the large number of estates and frozen buildings for sale. Although last year there was a real rush of investors to Western Ukrainian resorts, now the army of those willing to invest in the local tourist infrastructure has noticeably decreased.
These trends affected even the most expensive Carpathian resort - Bukovel. However, he is trying his best to keep the brand and high prices.
