Lobbyism, luxury and scandals: what is known about Nina Yuzhanina and her family

The son of People's Deputy Nina Yuzhanina, Yevhen Yuzhanin, has repeatedly been caught by the police because of violations of the law. The 38-year-old man was distinguished not only by numerous offenses, but also by a luxurious lifestyle, which causes public indignation.

According to information from sources in the National Police, Evgeny Yuzhanin has been brought to administrative responsibility at least ten times over the past eight years. Among the offenses — twice for hooliganism, three times for possession of drugs in a small amount and six times for participating in a traffic accident while under the influence of drugs.

Despite the decision of the Pechersk Court, which in May 2024 deprived Yevhen of his driver's license for one year, he continues to drive a luxury Mercedes GLS-400D 2022 car.

The information about Yevgeny's exclusion from military registration in October 2022 caused a special resonance. Despite the general mobilization in Ukraine, the son of the elected official avoided military service for unknown medical reasons.

Evgeny's wife, Gulnaz Boshugulova, was also the focus of investigations. In 2017, she became the owner of a travel company that previously, according to journalists, belonged to Nina Yuzhanina herself through front persons. In this way, they were able to hide the real owner of the company from NABU. Unemployed Gulnaz immediately contributed 20 million hryvnias to replenish the authorized capital.

Boshugulova also became the owner of an apartment in the center of Kyiv worth about 11 million hryvnias. bought in the same building . It is noteworthy that none of these assets are reflected in the declaration of the People's Deputy.

Nina Yuzhanina is a master of lobbying

Nina Yuzhanina is a people's deputy who has been working in the Verkhovna Rada committee on tax and customs policy for almost a decade. Her activities were repeatedly accompanied by scandals related to lobbying interests of large business groups.

In June 2019, Yuzhanina received the "Golden Scythe" anti-award for lobbying the interests of the tobacco industry. Public organizations accused her of promoting the adoption of bills beneficial to tobacco corporations. Experts of Transparency International Ukraine directly linked its activities with the failure of the state budget of more than 1.5 billion hryvnias.

In 2017, Nina Yuzhanina initiated the repeal of the amendment that limited state subsidies for agricultural holdings. As a result, the absence of a subsidy limit allowed large agricultural companies to receive significant budget funds.

One of the biggest beneficiaries of this decision was the oligarch Yury Kosyuk, owner of the agricultural holding Myronivskyi Hliboprodukt (MHP). According to Bihus.info journalists, Kosyuk received almost 1 billion hryvnias of state support.

In the same year, Yuzhanina was spotted at a joint event with former Minister of Ecology Mykola Zlochevskyi, who at that time already had a criminal record for corruption. They posed together for a photo in Monte Carlo during an event organized by Britain's Adam Smith Institute. This Institute, as it turned out, had connections with Russian companies.

And although the visit was private , the organizers of the event paid for Yuzhanina's stay in a luxury hotel in Monaco. Such a "gift" contradicts Ukrainian legislation, which prohibits deputies from accepting any valuable gifts that are not official.

In 2016, Yuzhanina found herself under a flurry of criticism due to accusations of involvement in the creation of offshore companies for President Petro Poroshenko. The leaders of the opposition parties, Oleg Lyashko and Yulia Tymoshenko, stated that Yuzhanina was blocking the adoption of anti-offshore laws.

Yuzhanina also had a relationship with scandalous legislative initiatives that were beneficial to Yuri Kosyuk's agricultural holdings and Rinat Akhmetov's energy companies .

The activity of the Yuzhanin family raises many questions about the transparency and legality of their lifestyle. And although the police and anti-corruption agencies have not yet taken active action, society is demanding answers.
