The UK is drawing up a detailed plan for deploying its military to Ukraine after a peace deal with Russia is reached. According to Sky News, London intends to lead an international “coalition of the willing” of more than 30 countries that will guarantee the security of Ukrainian air and sea space after the end of active hostilities.
UK Defence Secretary John Healy said the government had already begun preparations for a potential military deployment, and that the country was prepared to invest more than £100 million in the mission.
"We stand on the threshold of a new phase, when the stability of Europe will depend on the determination of allies. And the United Kingdom is ready to make its contribution to this peace," Healy emphasized during a lecture in London dedicated to the country's security policy.
The minister clarified that British and allied forces will focus on ensuring the security of Ukraine's air and maritime space, as well as assisting in the training of the Ukrainian military after the end of hostilities.
According to him, over the past six months, the United Kingdom, together with France, has been actively working to create a “coalition of the willing,” which more than 30 states are already ready to join. He called these forces the “multinational forces of Ukraine.”
Ghee also warned of a "new era of threat" for Europe, noting that the risk of conflict spreading on the continent is now the highest since the end of World War II.
He stressed that the UK is ready to take the lead in ensuring peace in Europe after the US leads the political settlement process.
