On the night of September 28, Russian occupation forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine using Shahed attack drones. As a result, airstrikes were declared in most regions of the country.
In addition to drones, Russian aircraft — MiG-31 and Tu-95MS, which are carriers of cruise missiles — took to the sky. This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At around 03:30 in the night, the Air Force noted that the main part of the strike drones was moving in the airspace of Cherkasy, Kyiv and Poltava regions. At the same time, monitoring telegram channels reported that the Russian troops had raised at least seven Tu-95MS planes into the air. According to their data, the enemy probably launched air-launched cruise missiles of the Kh-101 type from the Saratov region of Russia. The monitors noted that accurate information on whether these were real launches or imitations will become known around 05:00.
This information was later confirmed by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reporting on possible missile launches from the area of the city of Engels, where one of the main strategic airfields of Russia is located. At the time of the takeoff of the MiG-31 fighter from the Olenya airfield, an air alert was declared throughout Ukraine. However, later the signal was gradually canceled in certain regions. In addition, according to monitoring sources, the occupiers also launched Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea.
As of the time of publication of this information, there have been no reports of damage to civilian or critical infrastructure facilities.
