The Zaliznychny District Court of Lviv has handed down a verdict in a bribery case involving border guard Dmytro Stetsenko. For receiving a bribe of 2,000 euros in exchange for assistance in the unhindered export of a large amount of undeclared currency, the man was only fined 93.5 thousand UAH. In addition, he proposed to direct the bail paid during the investigation in the amount of 242 thousand UAH to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the case materials published in June 2025 in the Unified Register of Court Decisions, Stetsenko received a bribe in September-October 2024 for influencing colleagues from the State Border Guard Service and customs. His mediation allowed 200 thousand euros to be exported to Poland through the Nyzhankovychi checkpoint without customs declaration.
The investigation established that the border guard had agreed on a “service” back in August — he promised to organize the export of currency for a fee of 1% of its amount. The funds were transferred after the transaction was completed: the client’s proxy twice exported 100 thousand euros, and after the second transfer of the bribe, Stetsenko was detained.
During the trial, the accused fully admitted his guilt and stated that he wanted the bail paid to be used for the needs of the army. Judge Bohdana Gedz, having examined all the circumstances, found him guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of influence) and imposed a fine.
This verdict can still be appealed.
