An increased level of danger has been declared in Lviv and the region due to adverse weather conditions. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology.
Strong winds have been approaching the city since May 10. According to weather forecasters, gusts of westerly wind will reach 15–20 m/s and will persist until the end of the day. In this regard, the first level of danger - yellow - has been declared in Lviv. The bad weather will also affect certain areas of the region.
Forecasters also warned of a sharp drop in temperature at night over the next few days. Frosts are forecast in Lviv and the region from May 11 to 13: the temperature at night will drop to 0…-3°C. Because of this, the II level of danger has been declared - orange.
Particularly unfavorable conditions are expected on the night of May 11. Atmospheric fronts from the northwest will bring rain, and in some places - wet snow. Light fog is also forecast. Winds will reach 3–8 m/s at night, and will increase to 7–12 m/s during the day.
The daytime air temperature will be 9–14°C in the region, in Lviv – 11–13°C. Night frosts down to 0…-2°C can damage crops, so residents are advised to protect their plants.
Townspeople and residents of the region are urged to be careful, avoid trees, billboards, and weakly anchored structures during windy weather, and to take the forecast into account when planning trips and outdoor work.
