In Lviv, customs officers have stopped an attempt to export ancient jewelry from Ukraine, which, according to experts, have cultural value and can be entered in the State Register of National Cultural Association.
According to the Lviv Customs Customs on April 28, several metal objects were found during the inspection of the parcel at the Lviv - Postal Position, which seemed to the experts of the suspicious. After the examination, it turned out that these jewelry is not ordinary jewelry products, but real historical artifacts.
Among the contents are four rings dated to the XII-XIV centuries, as well as Fibula (metal clasp) of the I-II centuries of our era. Such subjects can be valuable not only for the museum collection, but also for understanding the culture and life of the ancient peoples living in the territory of modern Ukraine.
Currently, the decorations have been removed and in the future they will be transferred to the Museum Fund of Ukraine.
Customs officers immediately reported the police, since the fact of detection of such things is subject to Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - smuggling of cultural values. This can threaten three to seven years in prison.
The artifacts are likely to have fallen into the parcel thanks to the so -called "black archaeologists" - persons who, with the help of metal detectors, illegally sought and expelled ancient items for further sale in the black market.
There is no clarification where the artifacts were found in the customs message.
This case is another signal of the threat of loss of national heritage due to illegal trade and unscrupulous export of cultural values. Customs officers once again emphasize that the export of historical or cultural value without appropriate permits is a crime.
