The Lviv Railway District Court issued a verdict in the case of bribery, which was involved in the border guard Dmitry Stetsenko. For receiving 2000 euros of bribe in exchange for assistance in the unobstructed export of a large amount of undeclared currency, the man was only a fine - 93.5 thousand UAH. In addition, he suggested that the pledge paid during the investigation of UAH 242 thousand for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the case, published in June 2025 in the Unified Register of Judgments, Stetsenko received a bribe in September-October 2024 for influencing the colleagues from the State Border Service and Customs. Its mediation made it possible to export 200 thousand euros without customs declaration through Poland.
The investigation found that the border guard agreed on the "service" in August - he promised to organize the export of currency for a remuneration in the amount of 1% of its amount. The funds were transferred after the operation: the trustee of the client twice took out 100 thousand euros, and after the second transfer of the bribe of Stetsenko was detained.
During the trial, the accused fully pleaded guilty and stated that he wanted the pledge to be directed to the needs of the army. Judge Bohdan Gedz, having studied all the circumstances, found him guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of influence) and imposed a penalty in the form of a fine.
This sentence can still be appealed.
