On February 7 in Lviv, the Lviv resident Stepan Bilchenko , known as a monitor of crimes on the basis of hatred of LGBTKI+-community, which worked in the public organization Gender Stream. The next day, a man was found on the side of the road near Zhytomyr with severe injuries, including a fracture of the skull base and hematomas.
According to neighbor Bilchenko, who was the first to report his disappearance, the man was abducted around 9:00 am near the Stryi market in Lviv. The last time he was seen with the employees of the territorial staffing center (TCC), who, according to unconfirmed data, forced him to pass the Military Medical Commission (VLK) in a few hours.
On February 8, he was found on the route near Zhytomyr. The random driver noticed a person in a serious condition and called an ambulance. The victim was taken to a hospital where doctors were diagnosed with serious injuries, including brain damage and swelling. The condition of the man remains critical.
Gender Stream, where Bilchenko worked as a monitor of hatred crimes, confirmed his abduction and declared a criminal investigation. The organization emphasized that the case can have both a normal criminal implication and to be related to its professional activity.
Stepan Bilchenko was also known for his work in the academic sphere. He worked as a laboratory assistant at the Department of Nuclear Physics of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. His activities covered scientific work and activism aimed at combating hatred and discrimination.
At the moment, law enforcement officers did not make official statements about the motives of the attack on Bilchenko. Can this case be associated with his work in Gender Stream, whether it is the result of the arbitrariness of the shopping center - is still unknown.
