Former absolute world heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis commented on the expected rematch between Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and Briton Tyson Fury, scheduled for December 21.
Lewis spoke about Fury, stating: "Fury will learn from losing the first fight and come back! Losing is part of the game, and how you react to losing is a big deal." This statement underscores the importance of responding to defeat in professional sports, and also adds to the intrigue ahead of the rematch.
Recall that in May of this year, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury, becoming the first absolute world champion in the heavyweight division of the 21st century, who united four championship belts - WBA, IBF, WBO and WBC. After the fight, Usyk turned to his late father, expressing his joy at the achievement. Usyk, dressed in the costume of a Cossack hetman, was unable to attend the press conference due to a suspected fracture of the jaw, and was hospitalized.
Fury, however, claimed after the loss that he had actually won the fight, even though bookmakers had predicted Usyk would win. This controversial aspect has added more tension to the upcoming rematch between these two great boxers.
