In his speech at the Munich Security Conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi expressed serious concern about Russia's ongoing aggression and stressed the need for immediate action to stop the Russian regime. He emphasized that the world cannot allow Russia to remain with impunity and abandon the principles of the international legal order.
Zelensky expressed his fear that further tolerance of aggression by Russia could lead to serious consequences for the whole world. He stressed that everything must be done to stop the Russian regime, which he called a thug holding power through corruption and violence.
The President also criticized the insufficient support of Ukraine from international partners, especially in the context of the situation with the exit from Avdiivka by Ukrainian forces. He expressed confidence in Ukraine's ability to win, but noted that it depends not only on Ukrainians, but also on the support of their partners.
Zelenskyi also mentioned the development of domestic production of drones and electronic warfare systems, which will allow Ukraine to surprise Russia on the battlefield. However, he emphasized that this is only a parallel path, as Ukraine is waiting for help from its partners.
Zelenskyi also drew attention to justice in mobilization, stressing the importance of rotating servicemen and replacing them with professional soldiers. He called for a fair sharing of the burden and emphasized that a different number of men are needed to defend a country compared to a counter-offensive.
Finally, Zelensky expressed gratitude to the alliance for supporting Ukraine's integration into NATO, but avoided specific comments on the timing of Ukraine's accession to NATO, stating that this issue should be addressed to the alliance's secretary general.
