Former head of the Brovarsky district state administration, Volodymyr Maybozhenko, again in the center of the scandal - this time because of criminal proceedings on the transfer of servicemen abroad under the guise of volunteers.
According to the investigation, Maibozhenko, together with the head of one of the charitable organizations, organized a scheme of entry of fictitious volunteers in the Register "Path". Thus, men who had no legal grounds for departure left the territory of Ukraine without interruption.
The mechanism worked simply: because of the trustee - the director of the charity - the "Path" system included personal data of the servicemen who had nothing to do with humanitarian activity. Formally - they were volunteers. In fact, they paid for the reservation and the border crossing.
The money was taken by the accomplice of the Maybozhenko. According to law enforcement officers, the expolvets himself received "compensation" in the form of material goods purchased for cash. The amount of "services" is not voiced, but in similar schemes it usually ranges from $ 3 to $ 10 thousand per person.
Law enforcement officers have already presented Maibozhenko suspicion.
The name Maybozhenko is already in another high -profile business - a deadly accident that happened in December 2020. Then, while driving the SUV, he ran into four pedestrians in Brovary. Two of them were killed.
The court of first instance found Maibozhenko guilty, but later the Court of Appeal overturned the sentence and sent the case for a new trial. This story has disappeared from the news for some time, but now it reminds itself again - both in the context of an old crime and new suspicions.
In open sources, Maybozhenko is associated with the local political elites of Petro Poroshenko's presidency, but after the change of power, his activities have not lost its influence. In the "Path" case, the investigation checks the range of exponents in the Ministry of Infrastructure, the State Border Service and military administrations.
There is no new sentence so far, but circumstances indicate systematicity - both in avoiding responsibility and in the construction of shadow schemes. All this is against the background of war, mobilization and real threat to those who really fight.
