French President Emmanuel Macron and the EU Supreme Representative, Kai Callas, strongly condemned Russia's missile attack on the city of Sumy on April 13, which led to numerous casualties among civilians.
In his statement, the French leader called for more bold and decisive actions of the international community to pressure the Kremlin.
"We must act boldly to force Russia to stop terror against the Ukrainian population," Macron emphasized.
Kai Callas, for her part, emphasized that Russia's attack was demonstrating an increase in aggression against the backdrop of peaceful initiatives from Ukraine. In particular, she recalled the recent readiness of Kiev to cease fire in the Black Sea.
"While Ukraine agrees to the unconditional ceasefire in the Black Sea, Russia demonstrates the opposite - it increases attacks," Callas said.
The explosion that occurred in the center of Sumy on the morning of April 13 was caused by a ballistic blow. According to the latest data, more than 30 people were killed as a result of the attack, dozens were injured. Rescuers continue to work on the site of the tragedy.
European leaders have repeatedly emphasized the need for Russia to justice for crimes against civilians. The current blow to Sumy can be a new impetus to strengthen sanctions and expand Ukraine's military support.
