American expert Max Bergmann, director of the program on Europe, Russia and Eurasia at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, expressed concern about the possible consequences of stopping American aid to Ukraine in the event of a change of administration in the United States.
According to him, if Europe cannot compensate for the lost support from the United States, Ukraine may find itself in a situation where the war with Russia will be lost by 2026.
"The danger is that in 2026 we will see in Kyiv the same thing as in Kabul in 2021 - a military collapse that will lead to the end of Ukraine and Ukrainian democracy," he said.
According to Bergmann, "it is not clear whether Ukraine will be able to survive the gap between the termination of American aid and the increase of European defense production."
At the same time, the TV channel cites ways that Europe can use to maintain support for the Armed Forces.
One of the central ones is the confiscation of Russian sovereign assets worth 250 billion euros, frozen in the EU. At the same time, the TV channel writes about the "fear of some EU members before the financial consequences" of such a step (apparently, it is about undermining trust in the European financial system in third countries, which can cause an outflow of capital from the EU. It would also make it extremely difficult to restore relations with the Russian Federation later on). .
The rest of the methods, which experts see, are related to the increase in the costs of European countries. The TV channel reminds that from January 2022 to October 2024, Europe allocated 241 billion euros in aid, and the United States - 119 billion euros. Of this amount, 125 billion euros were actually transferred from Europe and 88 billion from the USA.
