Ukrainian presenter Marichka Padalko shared her impressions of an interview with famous American actor Michael Douglas, which she recorded during his visit to Ukraine. On her Instagram, Padalko told what exactly impressed her about this Hollywood star and why his behavior should become an example for Ukrainian stars and politicians.
Simplicity and modesty
Marichka Padalko noted that conducting an interview with Douglas was a dream come true for her. She found the actor to be very modest and polite, and made no demands on the conditions of the filming. “We did not hear any prior conditions: no one demanded separate dressing rooms, special cosmetics, or specific lighting,” the host wrote. Padalko was also struck by the lack of requests from Douglas or the summit organizers regarding the topics of the interview.
Stardom in the little things
Padalko emphasized that true stardom is manifested in small things and simplicity. Douglas, despite the possibility of no longer meeting people on the channel, politely communicated with everyone, greeted everyone and responded to personal remarks. “True stardom is in the little things — greeting everyone, repeating a foreign name you hear for the first time out of respect, responding to personal remarks,” the presenter noted.
Interview on the verge of collapse
Padalko also shared that the interview with Douglas might not have happened because of his busy schedule. The actors had a train to Europe, and the filming might simply not have been scheduled. “The interview was on the verge of breaking down because Douglas was delayed at the president’s and had a train back in a few hours,” the host said. However, Michael Douglas eventually arrived, and the conversation lasted 16 minutes, which, according to Padalko, left everyone amazed.
