According to Doctor of Economic Sciences Andriy Dligach, whose words are cited by UNIAN, Ukraine cannot now mobilize 500 thousand Ukrainians - Kyiv does not have the funds to carry out a large-scale conscription.
"We cannot talk about 500,000 mobilized people at all, because there is no such resource. "According to our calculations, the mobilization of more than 15% of men who may be subject to the draft may lead to an economic disaster in the country," the expert said.
According to him, if more are called, enterprises will begin to close en masse.
"We calculated that the maximum ceiling we can reach now is 230,000 men. Therefore, it is necessary to look for another approach: through recruiting, through the optimization of not so much costs, but the use of existing human resources," the economist added.
As we can see, a large-scale mobilization in Ukraine is simply not financially feasible. Only the Westerners will be able to help, and that if they undertake not only the supply of weapons, equipment and uniforms, but also financial support (which is unlikely, in the conditions of the reduction of financial aid and the uncertainty with its further extension). Ukraine, with its level of economy, cannot cope with this.
