Mass poisoning of children in Stryi: 10 hospitalized, one - in serious condition

On Wednesday, July 9, ten children were hospitalized in Stryi City United Hospital with a preliminary diagnosis of acute intestinal infection. They all traveled from the village of Kosino (Transcarpathian region) to Vinnitsa. There were 42 children and 2 adults on the bus.

According to the Department of Civil Protection of the Lviv Regional State Administration, one of the hospitalized children - the girl of 2009 - was in serious condition, however, according to the latest information, her condition stabilized to the average. Other nine children have moderate symptoms.

According to the head of the infectious ward of the hospital Andriy Babiak, children have nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fever. The preliminary cause of poisoning has not been established at this time - the results of studies are expected in the near future.

“We examined all the children. 32 children went to Vinnitsa, where local doctors will still be watched. 10 remain in our hospital, ”the doctor said.

It is known that the children did not eat in public institutions, but consumed food prepared on their own. They also drank water from a mountain source, which could be one of the possible causes of infection. The final cause of poisoning should be established laboratory tests.

Currently, doctors and sanitation services are taking all the necessary measures to prevent further cases.
