As Andriy Dligach, Doctor of Economics, quoted by UNIAN, said, Ukraine cannot mobilize 500,000 Ukrainians right now - Kyiv does not have the funds to conduct a large-scale conscription.
"There can be no talk of 500,000 mobilized men at all, because there is no such resource. According to our calculations, the mobilization of more than 15% of men who may be called up could lead to an economic catastrophe in the country," the expert noted.
According to him, if more are called up, businesses will begin to close en masse.
"We calculated that the maximum ceiling we can reach now is 230 thousand men. So, we need to look for a different approach: through recruitment, through optimization not so much of costs as the use of available human resources," the economist added.
As we can see, a large mobilization in Ukraine is simply unaffordable financially. Only Westerners can help, and then only if they take on the responsibility of not only supplying weapons, equipment, and uniforms, but also providing financial support (which is unlikely, given the reduction in financial assistance and uncertainty about its further continuation). Ukraine, with its level of economy, will not be able to cope with this.
