A mother beat and bit her one and a half year old son

A court in Kyiv sentenced a 32-year-old woman who beat and bit her one-and-a-half-year-old son while putting him to bed. It turned out that she was not aware of her actions due to mental problems, and the court ordered her to undergo compulsory treatment in a psychiatric institution.

This was reported in the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office.

"During the trial, the prosecutor proved that in March of this year, a 32-year-old woman, while at her place of residence, putting her one-and-a-half-year-old son to bed, who did not want to fall asleep, struck him more than three times on the face and head and bit him on the buttock." - informed the prosecutor's office.

According to the conclusion of the forensic psychiatric examination, as indicated, "the woman, due to her mental state at the time of committing the criminal offense, could not be aware of her actions and control them, therefore the court decided to apply coercive measures of a medical nature to her in the form of hospitalization in an institution for the provision of psychiatric care with usual supervision".

It is noted that the prosecution in criminal proceedings against a local resident was carried out on the basis of the fact of domestic violence, inflicting minor injuries on her son (Part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
