Pervomaisk Mayor Oleg Demchenko suspected of hiding his wife's assets worth over 5 million hryvnias

In the Mykolaiv region, the mayor of Pervomaysk, Oleh Demchenko, was notified of suspicion of entering false information into the declaration for 2023. This is stated in a message from the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the investigation, the official did not declare part of the property, financial assets and liabilities belonging to his wife. The total value of the undeclared assets, according to a preliminary estimate, exceeds 5.3 million hryvnias.

Suspicion was declared under Part 1 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - submission of knowingly false information in the declaration of a person authorized to perform state or local government functions.

Currently, investigative actions are ongoing under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office with the participation of the State Bureau of Investigation. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the possible offense, as well as verifying the origin of undeclared funds.

Demchenko has been the mayor of Pervomaysk since 2020. According to information from open sources, he previously worked in municipal structures and was engaged in entrepreneurial activities.

The final legal assessment of the official's actions will be provided by the court.
