Melovin spoke candidly about his struggle with alcoholism and the consequences for his health

Ukrainian singer Melovin, also known as Kostyantyn Bocharov, has for the first time openly shared the details of his struggle with alcoholism. The performer admitted that after the start of a full-scale war in Ukraine, alcohol became his constant companion.

In an interview with the project "Exam. New reality" by Maria Yefrosinina, the artist noted that he started drinking after the start of the full-scale invasion. The Great War made Melovin think a lot about his life. He understood where to move next and how to build a life. The star tried to suppress obsessive thoughts with alcohol, but it only made things worse.

"The war created a gap between the past life, not because rockets fly and you adapt to the world in a different way, but completely mental. World perception has changed: "Who are you?", "What do you want to do?", "Were these your dreams or imposed by someone?" A lot of fears, childhood images began to surface. It's like a catalyst - all processes started at the same time," Bocharov recalled.

One day Konstantin woke up and realized that he could not feel his hand at all. It was then that he first understood the seriousness of the situation. Melovin's hand was removed for three days, after which he turned to doctors, who diagnosed the singer with the initial stage of liver cirrhosis.

"I lost my left arm for three days. I woke up like that once and thought: "Well, my hand is numb." The evening comes, the hand does not pass. The next day comes, the hand is numb. On the third day, the hand is numb. And then I got scared myself, called my psychiatrist. She said: "Fuck you." Analyzes showed that I have steatohepatosis of the liver. I went for an ultrasound scan, and the woman said to me: "I'm sorry, but I've only seen such a liver in farmers who poison the fields, and those over 50 years old." I said you just don't understand the amount of alcohol consumed. I could drink two bottles of gin in an evening. Drunk to oblivion," the celebrity shared.

However, even liver problems did not stop the artist. He continued to drink, as a result of which he was diagnosed with another disease - diabetes.

"Alcohol provoked diabetes. I passed the tests and they tell me: "Congratulations, you had prediabetes, and now you have diabetes. My blood sugar was 12-13 at a normal level of 4," Kostyantyn added.

Then experts scared the star that he might not even live to be 30 years old. After that, Melovin decided to change his life and started with his team. He changed the musicians to those who do not drink alcohol. He was also greatly influenced by reading the book "The Queen's Walk". According to Bocharov, he recognized himself in the main character, because she lost herself and her career due to drugs and alcohol. In April of last year, the musician completely gave up alcohol and currently does not drink.

"On that day, I wrote in my phone: 'April 23 - I no longer need alcohol.' From this moment I do not use. This is my property during the war," the performer concluded.
