Diets should take into account not only age or physical activity level, but also gender — at least for breakfast. This is the conclusion reached by researchers from the University of Waterloo in Canada, who studied how male and female bodies react to different types of morning food.
According to the German newspaper Bild , scientists created computer models of the metabolism of men and women to analyze how they digest breakfasts high in carbohydrates or fats. The results showed a striking difference.
According to the model, men tolerate carbohydrate breakfasts better - cereals, cereals, fruits. Such a start to the day activates metabolism and provides a stable energy level.
Women, on the other hand, respond more effectively to fats—omelettes, avocado toast, or yogurt with nuts. These choices support hormonal balance and stabilize blood glucose levels.
“Seemingly minor decisions — like what we eat for breakfast — can affect our health and energy levels,” says study leader Stephanie Abo.
Scientists emphasize that personalizing nutrition by gender can significantly improve well-being, concentration, and even affect long-term health.
By the way, another study points to the importance of breakfast itself: residents of Loma Linda in California, who are considered long-lived, traditionally start the day with oatmeal - and this may be one of the secrets of their health.
