During the regular plenary session of the Kyiv City Council, the mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced his proposal to fill the vacant position of secretary of the Kyiv City Council. The candidate that the mayor will propose for consideration at the session is Zoya Yarosh, a deputy from the Holos faction.
According to Klitschko, the decision was made after preliminary consultations with the factions. He called on all political forces in the Kyiv City Council to join the discussion and find a common solution.
"I have held consultations with the leaders of the factions and propose the candidacy of Zoya Yarosh for the position of Secretary of the Kyiv City Council. I urge my colleagues to discuss her figure, and then put her to a vote," Klitschko noted during his speech.
The position of Secretary of the Kyiv City Council has remained vacant since February 2025, when its previous head, Volodymyr Bondarenko, voluntarily resigned. Since then, representatives of the majority in the Kyiv City Council have been unable to reach an agreement on a new appointment, which has complicated the work of the city council.
Who is Zoya Yarosh?
Zoya Yarosh is a lawyer, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council, a representative of the Holos faction. Before her election, she practiced law and is also known for her active public position on the transparency of the capital's governance.
It is expected that a corresponding submission with her candidacy will be submitted for consideration in the near future. The final decision will be made by the session hall of the Kyiv City Council.
