In an interview with La Repubblica newspaper, he stated that after Zaluzhny's removal, Zelenskyi "had to explain the reason for the decision, which shocked every Ukrainian", "many felt confused and despaired".
"The expulsion of General Zaluzhnyi was a very serious mistake. Now we need a government of national unity" to regroup, Klitschko said.
"No peace plan will work if the front line does not hold. We will be able to implement it only when we are strong and the Russians will respect it," Klitschko said.
At the same time, the publication for some reason placed a photo of the younger brother of the mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, Volodymyr, on the front page of the article.
Earlier, Klitschko called for an end to the intrigues surrounding Zaluzhny and stated that the resignation of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny would not benefit the interests of the state.
According to the mayor of Kyiv, today, unfortunately, there is a moment when politics can prevail over common sense and the interests of the state.
"I hope the authorities understand the seriousness of the steps they are taking now and the full extent of their responsibility. Because today, when Ukraine is literally fighting for its existence, the main thing is the combat capability and coherence of the army and the unity of society. We must finally stop the political intrigues and internal struggle," Klitschko emphasized.
The mayor of Kyiv also added that today we need to fight for one thing - for the Victory of Ukraine.
