In Kiev, a serious confrontation between the mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko and the newly appointed head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) Timur Tkachenko. The latter was appointed President Vladimir Zelensky on the eve of New Year, which seems to cause dissatisfaction with the mayor.
Klitschko directly accuses the presidential environment of "political intrigues" and states that Tkachenko, who has no military education and experience, "blocks the solution of key economic issues." According to the mayor, the repair of damaged homes, compensation to the victims and urban infrastructure was threatened.
In addition, Klitschko states that Tkachenko is trying to usurp power, sorting through the powers of the mayor, the city council and the KSCA, which, in his opinion, is illegal.
"I remind you, the military administration is a temporary body that deals with defense and security, not usurpation of power," Klitschko emphasized.
The conflict between the mayor of Kiev and the representative of the presidential vertical in the capital threatens to develop into an open struggle for influence. In the conditions of martial law and the crisis of relations between the city authorities and the military administration, the situation in Kiev can only be exacerbated.
