The mayor of Ostroh Yuriy Yagodka apologized for the attack on the activist while intoxicated

The incident that happened in Ostroh again attracts the attention of the public. The mayor of the city Yuriy Yagodka, who in a drunken state beat a local activist because of her remark about the performance of Russian songs, finally decided to apologize to the woman, however, only a month after the incident.

The mayor of Ostroh Yuriy Yagodka apologized for the fact that on August 29, on Defender's Day, he beat a local woman while intoxicated. Almost a month after the incident, on September 24, the official wrote on his Facebook page that he admitted his guilt.

In a comment to Zaxid.net, the spokeswoman for the Rivne region police, Maria Yustytska, said:

58-year-old local activist Lyudmila Frankovska told the law enforcement officers that she was beaten by the mayor Yuriy Yagodka. The woman claims that in the evening she passed by the local library, where the Center for Culture and Leisure is located, and heard Russian music from there. Frankovska entered the premises and saw an inebriated Yuri Yagodka there.

The local publication "Pro Rivne" clarifies that Yury Yagodka and his female patrons sang "Oh, the viburnum is blooming in the field by the stream."

After Frankovska made a remark to the mayor, the official allegedly reacted aggressively and pounced on the woman with his fists. The victim wrote a statement on the fact that she was physically injured.

Yagodka commented on the situation today. He said that during this time he thought about everything and drew conclusions.

"Yes, my fault is that, to put it simply, I got drunk. My fault is that I behaved in a way that does not befit the mayor, does not befit a public person and does not befit a man... This is not an excuse, because no fatigue, moral pressure or provocations justify what happened. I apologize to those who voted for me in the 2020 elections, and to those who did not," the mayor .

He added that the opponents are trying to use the scandal to their advantage, however, according to the law, it is necessary to wait for the election to re-elect the mayor.
