There are no significant changes in the weather or signs of approaching meteorological spring in Ukraine yet, said Ivan Semilyt, a forecaster at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
According to him, the current week will remain cold across the country. The air temperature will mostly remain at minus values, and no noticeable warming is yet predicted.
On February 20, temperatures above zero are expected only in Transcarpathia and in places in the central regions. At night, the temperature will range from -3° to +3°, while in most regions, minus values will prevail.
In the coming days, the south and southeast will be slightly warmer — +2°…+8°, and in the far south, the temperature may rise to +9°…+14°. At the same time, the cold wave will persist in other areas of the country.
On February 21, the temperature will drop again. In the southeastern part, night and day temperatures are expected to range from -3° to +3°, while in the western, northern, and partly central regions, night temperatures will range from -4°…-9°, and in places up to -14°. In the daytime, temperatures are forecast to range from 0°…-5°, in the north — up to -7°.
At the end of February, from the 22nd to the 26th, snow and sleet with rain will sometimes fall in Ukraine. On February 22, in the northern, western and central regions at night -9°…-14° is expected, during the day the temperature will fluctuate from -4° to +3°. In the south and southeast during this period it will be warmer — +2°…+7°.
Ivan Semilyt emphasized that there are no trends yet that would indicate the arrival of meteorological spring. According to him, “as much as we would like to, we are not observing such spring-like temperature values right now.”.
Thus, the last week of the calendar winter will pass without a sharp warming, and frosty nights will still persist in most regions of the country.
