The "Metinvest" group, owned by businessman Rinat Akhmetov, announced the suspension of the coal mining site in the village of Pishchane, near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. This decision was made due to threats to the safety of workers and the difficult situation in the region.
It is noted that the suspension of work occurred due to the approach of the front line and increased shelling.
This site provided about half of the total volume of coal production by "Metinvest" in Ukraine. At the same time, other key facilities of the Group continue to operate.
The facility is home to a vertical shaft (No. 3) of the Pokrovske mine management and an administrative complex. It is noted that the Group evacuated key personnel and their family members.
The closure of the company's other mines near Pokrovsk has not yet been announced.
