Military expert Mikhail Zhirokhov reported on the difficult situation in the area of the city of Selidove in Donetsk region, where the Russian occupiers have achieved some successes. According to him, although the city has not yet been lost, the situation there is critical.
“Everything is not as good as we are told in Selidove. The situation there is very difficult. I would not say that Selidove is lost as of now. But the Russians are fighting in residential areas. It is very, very difficult there,” Zhirokhov noted. In his opinion, the Kara-Dag brigade of the National Guard, which is still holding positions in the city, is doing so only in order to be able to retreat to other lines of defense.
The expert also focused on the difficult situation in Kurakhove, where Russian troops are actively putting pressure on Ukrainian defenders, forcing them to retreat to water obstacles. “There are still two bridges there, but logistics are very bad… They have enough forces to concentrate on at least two directions,” Zhirokhov added. He emphasized that the Russians managed to break through the Ukrainian defense line in some directions, in particular near Tsukurene and Kurakhove.
The expert also expressed concern about the frontline situation in the Toretsk area. Despite the transfer of additional reserves, it was not possible to stabilize the situation. “They are clearly not enough to reach some level of a more or less permanent front line,” he noted. According to him, the front line is not moving in favor of Ukraine, and the Russians have pulled a significant number of troops into this region.
