Law enforcement officers have reported suspicions against an instructor at one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers for obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period. The Prosecutor General's Office reports this.
The senior sergeant sought out servicemen who wished to avoid service and, for a monetary reward, helped them resolve this issue. In particular, he facilitated:
- Escapes of soldiers who returned from abandoning their unit (SZCH).
- Removing soldiers from transport heading to military units.
- Organizing their delivery to “safe” places by private transport.
The cost of such “services” depended on the complexity of the task and ranged from $3,000 to $5,000 per person. According to preliminary estimates, the suspect earned more than $21,000 from at least five people.
A senior sergeant was detained while accepting another bribe of $10,000. During the searches, law enforcement officers seized:
- Draft records that confirm illegal activity.
- Mobile phones.
- Money equivalent to over 36 thousand dollars.
- Five gold bars weighing 31 grams each, worth almost 700 thousand hryvnias.
At this time, the suspect has been remanded in custody as a preventive measure. Investigators continue to identify all individuals involved in the illegal scheme.
This incident once again demonstrates the acute problem of corruption in the Armed Forces of Ukraine's recruitment system, which requires an immediate response from the state.
