Lawyer Andriy Domansky, who was hired by the state to defend businessman Timur Mindich, filed an appeal against the ruling of the investigating judge on the choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention.
As the defense attorney reported, the defense believes that the ruling of the investigating judge should be overturned and the prosecutor's motion should be rejected, since it was allegedly filed in violation of the law and not supported by proper evidence.
On December 8, the Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court formed a panel of judges to consider the appeal: Judge Rapporteur Serhiy Bondar and two colleagues – Daniyla Chornenka and Ihor Panaid. Attorney Domansky noted that the trio includes the heads of the Appellate Chamber, but expressed hope for an impartial and comprehensive consideration of the appeal.
Domanchky also confirmed that he managed to agree on a legal position with Mindich in accordance with the requirements of the law and the rules of legal ethics.
Recall that on December 1, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court in absentia elected to remand Timur Mindich in custody. The businessman is suspected of creating and leading a criminal organization, legalizing funds in the amount of more than 256 million UAH, and illegally influencing members of the Cabinet of Ministers. On November 22, law enforcement officers put him and another defendant, Oleksandr Tsukerman, on the wanted list.
