Minister Marchenko explained what would happen without US assistance

The future of American support for Ukraine, especially in the face of a possible return of Donald Trump to power, remains uncertain. In a recent interview with the Spanish newspaper El Pais, Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko stated that Ukraine would be able to ensure its defense capabilities at least until mid-2025 even if American military aid were to be terminated.

“I believe that we have enough funds, weapons, missiles and artillery shells to resist at least for the first half of 2025,” said Marchenko. According to him, Kyiv has already provided budget allocations for the purchase of the necessary weapons and military equipment in 2025.

Ukraine currently receives a significant amount of military assistance from the United States, including modern weapons and ammunition, which allows it to effectively resist Russian aggression. However, even if this support is reduced, the Ukrainian government has a clear plan of action to ensure its defense needs.

Donald Trump, a potential candidate in the US presidential election, has repeatedly expressed skepticism about large-scale aid to Ukraine. His return to power could significantly affect American policy towards supporting Kyiv.

At the same time, the Ukrainian minister's statements indicate that the government is aware of the risks and is working on a strategy to maintain defense capabilities even in adverse conditions.

Ukraine is actively diversifying its arms supply sources, attracting new partners and concluding long-term contracts for the production of military equipment. In addition, the country's financial sector, despite the war, demonstrates stability thanks to international support and domestic reforms.

Marchenko emphasized that the Ukrainian government is aware of the complexity of the situation, but is doing everything possible to ensure the independence of its defense strategy.
