The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine announced the launch of a new financial support program for pensioners living in war zones or dangerous territories. The program, which will be financed by the World Food Program of the United Nations, is aimed at providing additional assistance to low-income pensioners. Payments under this initiative will continue until the end of 2024.
Main aspects of the program:
- Supplemental benefits : Retirees who qualify for the program will receive supplemental benefits to their basic pension. This aid is intended to support the most vulnerable citizens who remained in the regions affected by hostilities and receive minimum pensions.
- Target audience : The program is aimed at supporting pensioners who could not leave dangerous zones due to the war and receive a pension of less than 3.25 thousand hryvnias per month.
- Conditions of receipt: To participate in the program, retirees must meet three key criteria:
- Live in a war zone or in an area considered dangerous.
- To receive a pension below 3.25 thousand hryvnias.
- Do not receive other international aid.
- Automatic charging : Supplements will be automatically charged to pension cards together with the basic pension. Pensioners do not need to submit additional applications or complete any other formalities.
- Number of recipients : According to forecasts of the Ministry of Social Policy, by the end of 2024, more than 470,000 pensioners across the country will receive additional payments.
Special attention within the framework of the program is given to pensioners who do not have the opportunity to apply for assistance on their own, for example, due to lack of access to the Internet or physical infirmity. Such pensioners will also have the option of receiving additional assistance automatically, which will provide them with the financial support they need during this difficult time.
