The authorities of Ukraine are taking measures to speed up the construction of lines of defensive fortifications in case of a possible invasion of Russian forces. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced this on its Facebook page.
The government has expanded the list of organizations that have the right to place orders for the construction of fortifications. Now such a right belongs not only to regional military administrations, but also to the Ministry of Defense, the State Special Transport Service and the State Agency for Reconstruction.
This decision expands the sources of financing for the construction of defense structures. Contractors will now be given an advance of up to 70% of the total cost of the work.
In addition, the government established a unified approach to design solutions for construction, since fortifications were previously built in a haphazard manner. The new approach involves the creation of a powerful fortification network based on a single strategy. The same technical specifications, architectural and engineering solutions, as well as safety requirements will apply to all facilities. The location of various fortifications will be determined by the General Staff.
