The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense certified the first body armor specifically for female military personnel. This innovative protective element differs from traditional options and has a number of features that are designed for maximum comfort and efficiency for the female user.
The Ukrainian-made body armor was developed by the company "Ukrainian armor". Its sample was approved after two stages of testing, during which the bulletproof vest was refined, taking into account the anatomy and features of the female body.
Distinctive features of the "women's" body armor include a curved armor plate, narrowed shoulders and an extended bottom. This coordination with the physiology of women allows to provide comfortable conditions for using weapons and interaction with other elements of equipment.
"Since women's shoulders are narrower, and the pelvis, on the contrary, wider than men's, it was inconvenient for servicemen to work with weapons in the "male" version of the bulletproof vest," said Oleksandr Sharko, chief specialist of the Central Department of Development and Material Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Women's bulletproof vest, produced taking into account the anthropometric characteristics of the female body, became possible for centralized procurement. The Ministry of Defense is waiting for an application for the purchase of these body armor from the General Staff, and after that the volumes and lists for procurement will be formed.
The process of development and testing of the body armor was carried out for the second time, where the wishes of military women were taken into account after the first stage of testing. The "State operator of the rear" will deal with the purchase of "women's" body armor.
