Non-partisan People's Deputy of Ukraine Oles Dovhy announced the completion of his political activities and the submission of a statement on the resignation of his deputy powers. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"I am leaving politics. I have written a statement terminating the powers of a people's deputy," Dovhyy said, without specifying the reasons for this decision.
Oles Dovhyy was elected to the Verkhovna Rada under the majoritarian system. After the parliament officially votes to terminate his mandate, the total number of people's deputies in the Verkhovna Rada will be reduced to 398.
Dovhy is known for his long history in Ukrainian politics: he was a deputy of the Kyiv City Council and later of several convocations of parliament. His name has been mentioned from time to time in the context of political and financial scandals, but no court decisions have been made against him.
It is currently unknown whether Oles Dovhyy plans to remain in the public sphere or move into other areas of activity.
