The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine seized UAH 2.5 billion of Russian assets from the state budget and created registers for war crimes

In 2024, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine took a significant step in the direction of compensation for damages caused by the military, drawing 2.5 billion hryvnias of Russian assets to the state budget. This happened thanks to the introduction of new legal mechanisms aimed at holding the aggressor state accountable and compensating for the damage caused by the war.

"2.5 billion hryvnias of Russian assets were charged to the budget of Ukraine - this is one of the main results of the work of the Ministry of Justice in 2024," the ministry reports.

The department also called the documentation of thousands of war crimes an important result, which allows the perpetrators to be brought to justice and justice for the victims in the future.

In addition, as indicated, the "Unitary national portal for collecting facts of human rights violations" was created.

The Ministry of Justice calls initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable population groups no less important. Work has begun on a special registry for the protection of deported children, which will help document their movement and ensure their rights.

It is also noted that a damage register has been launched, accepting applications for damaged property, forced relocation and cases of death or disappearance of loved ones.
