The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that the total volume of announced contributions to the Energy Support Fund has already exceeded €1 billion. This Fund plays a key role in the restoration and stabilization of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, which has suffered significant destruction as a result of the war.
The total volume of donors' obligations regarding grant contributions to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine exceeded 1 billion euros, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.
The funds of the Fund are directed to the restoration of the energy infrastructure destroyed by Russia and the provision of urgent needs of communities in electricity supply.
"We are sincerely grateful to our partners for their solidarity in supporting our energy industry, which is so necessary for the whole of Ukraine, as well as to the Secretariat of the Energy Community for their help in finding the necessary equipment and organizing purchases," said the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko.
The Energy Support Fund of Ukraine was created in April 2022 at the joint initiative of the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko and the European Commissioner for Energy Affairs Kadri Simson at the Secretariat of the Energy Community.
During its operation, it has become an effective tool for providing international assistance in the energy sector, thanks to which Ukrainian energy companies are able to recover after Russian attacks, carry out repairs, and install new capacities, the ministry noted.
Donors of the Fund are the public and private sector from almost all EU countries, Great Britain and the USA, international and regional organizations.
