The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported the detection of unjustified payment of combat allowances in military units on the territory of Kyiv Oblast, Zhytomyr Oblast, Khmelnytskyi Oblast and Poltava Oblast. According to the results of the audit conducted by the auditors of the Ministry of Defense, it was found that additional monetary rewards in the amount of 186.6 million hryvnias were paid to individual servicemen without grounds.
As the press service of the ministry reports in a telegram, in fact a number of servicemen were in permanent deployment points and performed functional duties not related to the conduct of hostilities, but received combat allowances.
We are talking about such facts in military units in Kyiv region, Zhytomyr region, Khmelnytskyi region and Poltava region.
The Ministry of Defense adds that the materials of the audits have been handed over to law enforcement agencies to establish the degree of guilt of the officials and to compensate for the damages caused to the state.
It is not the first time that reports have been made of the abuse of combat allowances for servicemen. In particular, last fall, as a result of a selective inspection of 40 military units, abuses of UAH 123 million were discovered from payments to military personnel who did not take part in hostilities and did not perform any combat missions.
In June 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a law on changes to the legislation on military service during martial law. According to the document, military personnel may be paid additional remuneration in the amount of 30-100 thousand hryvnias every month. The law also establishes an additional payment for conscripts - UAH 6,000/month, cadets - UAH 2,350/month.
