From January 1, 2025, updated mobilization rules adopted by the Verkhovna Rada through draft law No. 12076 will enter into force in Ukraine. The changes concern both men and women who wish to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Mobilization remains mandatory for men over the age of 18 with military experience or training at a military department. At the same time, men aged 25 to 60 without previous experience are also subject to mobilization.
The new rules leave the mobilization of women exclusively voluntary. To do this, a woman must register for the military, undergo basic training and officially receive the status of conscript.
For women with a medical or pharmaceutical education, mandatory entry into the military register is provided, but this does not mean forced service. Mobilization of such specialists is possible only with voluntary consent.
The introduction of the military register of women doctors is aimed at improving the system of registration of specialists who can be involved in the defense of the country in case of need.
The legislative changes will allow for better planning of the needs of human resources and specialists with certain skills, while maintaining the principle of voluntariness.
