Mobilization in Ukraine: in which cases can the police forcibly take people to the CCC

According to the announcement of lawyer Yaroslav Kuts, a new law on mobilization will come into force on May 18, which provides for a number of changes in the activities of law enforcement agencies. The expert illustrated whether the police will have the right to detain individuals and deliver them to the CCC and the SP.

"According to the new legislation, which comes into force on May 18, if a person wanted for evading military service is listed in the registers and does not appear after receiving a summons, the police will have the right to detain him and deliver him to the CCC," the lawyer explained.

Yaroslav Kuts also noted that currently this practice takes place with a different approach. According to him, any patrol officer working on the streets and interacting with citizens acts within the framework of the legislation on the National Police.

"The police have the right to check a person at their bases, in particular at the Armor base, where in recent years information has been stored about persons who evade military duty at the request of military commissars and other authorized persons. Although this is currently controversial from a legal point of view, an appeal against this decision is unlikely," the lawyer concluded.
