Moldova has taken the initiative to ensure electricity supplies to Ukraine as part of a project that involves the transition from natural gas consumption to electricity production. This initiative has gained particular relevance in the context of geopolitical tensions and strategic calculations on the energy market
This is stated in a joint statement by the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania following the meeting in Chisinau, "DS" reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
"The Republic of Moldova has expressed its readiness to ensure the supply of electricity to Ukraine within the framework of the "gas-to-electricity" project by placing generation plants on its territory, using natural gas supplied by Ukraine for this exchange," the message states.
They note that for this purpose the parties "will seek solutions to make the gas infrastructure commercially reliable.".
Also, the Foreign Ministers of the three countries - Dmytro Kuleba, Mihai Popsoi, and Luminica Odobescu - agreed to cooperate to attract international funds and assistance for the implementation of projects to strengthen energy security.
