The amount of funds raised for the restoration of the National Children's Specialized Hospital "Okhmatdyt" has exceeded UAH 1.6 billion, the Ministry of Health reported. Of this amount, about UAH 400 million will be used to purchase new equipment.
According to the Ministry of Health, UAH 312 million was transferred directly to the hospital's account, UAH 379 million was transferred to the account of the charity fund "Okhmatdyt - Healthy Childhood", and over UAH 320 million was collected through the United24 and monobank platforms, which transferred these funds to the Ministry of Health's account at the National Bank. Additionally, $11.2 million was provided by The Howard G. Buffett Foundation for the purchase of necessary equipment, $1 million was allocated by Lithuania, and the Government of Ukraine transferred UAH 100 million.
The Ministry of Health clarifies that the scandalous tender, which became the subject of public discussion, was organized by the “Okhmatdyt – Healthy Childhood” foundation. This tender concerned current repairs based on a defective act prepared by the foundation. The agency notes that the tender results were canceled and no contract was signed. The funds collected through the foundation will be independently verified.
Funds received by the hospital through United24, The Howard G. Buffett Foundation, and the governments of Lithuania and Ukraine were not included in the tender. The Ministry of Health plans to hold a new tender through Prozorro to restore the damaged building of “Okhmatdyt” and create a council that will determine the requirements for contractors.
The Ministry of Health also announces a new competition for the reconstruction of the hospital. The tender will be organized by the state enterprise “Medical Procurement of Ukraine”, and all collected funds will be concentrated in the treasury account and will receive the status of state funds. It is expected that the process from the announcement of the competition to the determination of the winner will last no more than 21 days.
