Possible Russian attack on Zaporizhia

Amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, new projections about Russia’s strategic goals are troubling. A senior Ukrainian official recently suggested that Russia’s next target could be the city of Zaporizhia, an important industrial center in southern Ukraine.

The same source claims that Russia has already regained up to half of the territory that Ukraine previously seized in the Kursk region.

Previously, the Russians advanced in a number of areas in the Zaporizhia region, but there have been no large-scale actions there yet.

At the same time, as we have already written, Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions are of strategic importance for Ukraine's defense capability, much more so than Donbas, where the main fighting is currently underway.
