The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has demanded that Ukraine amend the country's Customs Code to strengthen the fight against corruption.
According to Bloomberg, this is required in a new memorandum that the IMF updated to continue international financial support for Ukraine.
In particular, Kyiv should bring customs operations into line with EU legislation and ensure transparency in the hiring of management and staff.
Also, by the end of September, Ukraine is required to conduct the first external audit of NABU. Auditors will be selected by international partners.
"The external audit of NABU should be completed promptly, and its results used to increase the accountability and operational efficiency of the bureau," the IMF said.
Among other conditions that Kyiv must fulfill are optimization of tax benefits in connection with the need to increase budget revenues, mobilization of domestic revenues, liberalization of currency controls, and maintaining reserves at the level of at least $28.8 billion, which will reduce the regulator's ability to conduct currency interventions to support the hryvnia.
