The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine called on the Verkhovna Rada to adopt a bill on the introduction of a total video surveillance system and identification of citizens using digital facial images. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, during a meeting with deputies, where the draft law, registered in February this year, was discussed.
"On the example of the work of the Situation Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the practical capabilities of the video monitoring system for maintaining law and order, preventing and responding to administrative and criminal offenses were demonstrated," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
According to the minister, the new system will allow not only to monitor people, but also to monitor motor vehicles, identifying them by make, model, color, number and other characteristics.
The proposed system involves the use of modern technologies to improve the safety and efficiency of law enforcement agencies. If the draft law is adopted, it will significantly expand the possibilities for fighting crimes and ensuring public order.
It should be noted that the implementation of such systems causes both support and concern among the public, especially in the context of issues of privacy and protection of personal data.
