Forward of the Ukrainian national team Roman Yaremchuk called on football experts and fans to restrain negativity regarding the performances of the national team. In an interview with the "Vzbirna" YouTube channel, the forward of the Greek "Olympiakos" emphasized that excessive criticism has a bad effect on young football players who "close themselves in and are afraid to show themselves."
Yaremchuk commented on the team's recent performances, including a win over Albania and a place in the Nations League play-offs. According to him, the national team shows promise, but its composition is quite young, and the players need support, not pressure:
"I would like to ask all people who are close to football to lower the degree a little. There are older people who cope with criticism, and there are young footballers who close in on themselves. Now we go to the Nations League playoffs to fight for League A."
The striker also mentioned the European Championship, where Ukraine scored four points, but did not make it to the playoffs. Yaremchuk noted that this was a historic case:
"Yes, we lost the game against Romania, but we are the first team in history not to go into the playoffs with four points. People are worried, but it is worth supporting, and not drowning us in criticism."
Yaremchuk, who is the best scorer of the "blue-yellow" team in official matches this year, called for a constructive attitude towards the national team. Despite the challenges, Serhiy Rebrov's team continues to fight on the international stage, and the future of Ukrainian football depends on its success.
