The proposal for the additional mobilization of half a million citizens to the Defense Forces of Ukraine is not a final decision, and the discussion of this issue continues. According to Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the President's Office, the figures of 400-500 thousand are discussed at the level of the specialized committee and among the military. The mobilization process itself is planned to be extended for a year, and the figures already received are not related to the number of losses of the Ukrainian army.
"The war is big, we need to recruit new brigades, carry out rotations, if we want to carry out certain demobilizations, we also need to replace people," explained Podolyak. He added that more than 400,000 occupation troops are on the front line, and they need to be replaced due to physical and psychological exhaustion.
The representative of the President's Office emphasized that the importance of this mobilization lies in the logistical support of the great war, which has been going on for two years. Noting that the numbers will be discussed together with the military and relevant committees, Podolyak called for them to be taken with understanding and in the context of the need to ensure the continuation of operations against Russian aggression.
"People physically and psychologically cannot fight for so long. They must somehow be replaced, they must be transferred through the rotation mechanism, and all this must be discussed," he emphasized.
The Office of the President of Ukraine stated that they will carefully discuss all aspects of this proposal and make an informed and considered decision regarding the additional mobilization of citizens to support the country's defense forces.
