Another corruption scandal at the Ukrainian Customs. This time - in Lviv region. The State Inspector of Customs Control Office was exposed to the undue benefit. For $ 1600, an employee promised not to notice violations during cars.
According to the investigation, the customs officer demanded money from the representative of the importing company, which was engaged in customs clearance of vehicles. For a bribe of $ 1600, he guaranteed the absence of artificially created obstacles during the registration of the car, and also promised to "do not overestimate" the customs value, which could significantly affect the amount of payments.
The fact of transfer of money was recorded within the limits of criminal proceedings. The official was detained directly while receiving an undue benefit.
Law enforcement officers conducted searches in several places: in the territory of the customs post, in the premises of the detained inspector, in the administrative premises of the Lviv customs and in the management of the fight against smuggling.
In the course of investigative actions, documents, electronic media and other evidence were removed that may indicate the systematicity of such "services".
Currently, the detainee is being prepared about suspicion under Article 368 (368) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - “acceptance of a proposal, promise or receipt of undue benefit by an official”. This article provides up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The case is conducted by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
