Russia, which launched a war of aggression against Ukraine, is trying to issue ultimatums to the North Atlantic Alliance. However, the aggressor country does not have any moral or legal right to demand that NATO revise the promise given to Ukraine and Georgia at the Bucharest Summit in 2008 regarding the future membership of the Alliance.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately reacted to another statement from Moscow. The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgy Tykhy, expressed the official position of the department on the X social network, harshly ridiculing Russia's attempts to dictate the terms of the Alliance.
Prior to that, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Oleksandr Hrushko called Ukraine's potential membership in NATO "catastrophic for European security." He also stated that the decision of the Bucharest summit creates an allegedly "unacceptable ambiguity" that hinders the achievement of peace in Ukraine.
In response, George the Quiet did not hold back in his wording, giving Russia a clear answer, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the most understandable for the Kremlin's rhetoric:
"Oh, that's all, North Korea's ally issues NATO ultimatums. Complete bullshit. Moscow did not give a word on this issue."
Tykhi also emphasized that it is Russia that is responsible for the destruction of the European security architecture by waging a war of aggression and supporting terrorist groups.
"The European security architecture is built on protection against Russia," the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
In Ukraine, they believe that NATO's actions, including the prospect of Ukraine joining the Alliance, are a response to the threat posed by the Kremlin's aggressive policy.
